Los Olivos, CA: Have You Had A Cup of Happiness?

Have you ever had a cup of happiness? A simple thing, such as a sip of a fresh squeezed drink, that has really brought you joy in the midst of your hectic day? Recently we went to visit Los Olivos and came across this little lemon cart sitting at the entrance of the Main Street. Would I have initially walked over to get a lemonade? Eh, maybe. But when I read the sign that said “get a cup of happiness” I was intrigued and went over to see what was going on; Welcome to Los Olivos Lemons!

There were different flavors for options, the original (just a fresh lemonade) of course, but then you could “Make it Fancy” by adding fun flavors with cute names to them such as the Lavender Love, Mint to Be, Just Right Jalepeno, and more. We got the Lavender Love Cup of Happiness and it was honestly my favorite lemonade I have ever had! The flavors were so fresh and delicious and, having just been in Provence, France, where there is so much lavender everywhere I was brought back to those fun and happy memories. This time, however, I got to feel that joy in the sweetest little town of olives with my favorite person, my mom!

According to their website, Los Olivos Lemons is a family business that firmly believes everyone deserves to be happy. They have a simple and straightforward mission which is to “make room for happiness no matter the challenges life throws your way.” Their goal is that after a hectic and stressful day, stopping by this joyful and easy-going destination you’ll enjoy a “Cup-of-Happiness” and the hardest decision you’ll have to make is choosing a flavor. As the impossibly indecisive person I am, this decision wasn’t even all too hard! It was FUN!

The background story to this company is heartfelt. The owners, originally from Austin, Texas, married and moved to Los Olivos, California, for some more fresh air, once finding out heir oldest son was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. Their site goes on to say,

“We honed our happiness attitude after our oldest son, Vance, was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. CF is a genetic disease that requires physical therapy, multiple breathing treatments, and a variety of prescription drugs dosed daily. At this point, there’s no cure for CF. We see the way our son gracefully handles his challenges and the optimism he shows every day. After getting involved in the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, we were able to meet other families with CF and saw the love and hopeful attitudes they too exude.

Cystic Fibrosis patients across the globe have been the motivating factor behind creating our “Cup of Happiness.” We want to show people that no matter the obstacles you face in life, your attitude is the driving force that determines your outcome. So choose to be happy! And if you need help finding your motivation, come on by, we’ll have a “Cup of Happiness” just for you.”

Picked up a souvenir hat that says “Los Olivos Lemons – Squeeze Happy”

This Cup of Happiness was such a simple thing but made such an impact on this weekend getaway. I can’t wait to go back to Los Olivos and have another cup! It was so delicious and the owner was so friendly and nice, even taking my mom over to the olive tree so she could pick an olive (she loves picking fruit off of trees – we are always pulling over for lemons and oranges or whatever she sees from the road – whatever makes her happy works for me). We stopped again on our way out of town for another cup because it was just SO DELICIOUS! If you’re ever in the area make sure to stop and check them out and let me know what flavor you choose 🙂

Here is the address to find this sweet little lemon stand:
